My love for breakfast is real. It's probably my favourite part of the weekend. So I'm always looking for new breakfast ideas that are creative and interesting (and also super easy!)
Anyway, I came across something similar to this recipe so I decided to tweak it and make it my own.
Are you tired of always having eggs for brekkie? Or do you perhaps not even eat eggs (why though)? Or are you just looking for something different? Then try out the recipe below.
PS: I actually LOVE having regular pizza for breakfast! Also, please excuse the picture. I always forget to take pictures before I eat because I can’t wait:)
Preparation time: 20-30 minutes
What you need:
- Bread
- Butter
- Green peppers
- Yellow peppers
- Red peppers
- Garlic
- Chives
- Cooked mushrooms
- Cheese
- Salt/Aromat
- Coriander
Method:
Butter one side of the bread and place it in the oven to toast. Remove from oven and turn the bread around so that the other side is also toasted. You want your bread to be well toasted but not burnt. You can also pop your bread into the toaster before buttering it.
Toss the peppers, garlic, chives, mushrooms and salt together in a heated pan until water burns out.
Once the bread is toasted, add a slice of processed cheese/regular cheese to the buttered side of the bread. Place the peppers, chives and mushrooms on top of the cheese and sprinkle salt. Top off with cheese and place it back in the oven so that the cheese melts. Garnish with coriander.
I absolutely love breakfast... okay maybe it's more like brunch but that's irrelevant right now.
On weekdays, I generally scarf down some cereal or a slice of toast or two but on weekends, I like going all out. I'll wake up late and then proceed to make something delicious and filling because we don't always have a lunch meal.
Now, I'm probably the furthest thing from a chef, let alone a cook. I don't cook often and I don't claim to know what I'm always doing. However, I know for a fact when things taste good and the recipe below tastes absolutely delicious!
I came across a frittata recipe a while back and I thought it would be interesting to try. I didn't end up following the recipe but I did end up using the concept.
A frittata is an Italian egg dish which is similar to an omelette. Some people start off with it on the stove and end off with it in the oven but I just leave it on the stove.
Time: 30-45 minutes
What you need:
A deep frying pan with a lid, preferably non stick
A plastic spatula
1 tsp butter
1/2 tsp garlic
1-2 green chillies
1/2 cup green peppers
1/2 cup red peppers
1/2 cup yellow peppers
1/2 cup cooked mushrooms
3 tbsp chives/green onions, chopped
1 tomato (optional)
Spinach (optional)
4 eggs
1 tsp coriander powder
2 tbsp milk
Crushed green chillies
Salt/Aromat
Black pepper
Handful of cheese
Coriander and chives to garnish
Method:
In the pan, melt the butter. Add garlic, chillies, green, red, yellow peppers, mushrooms, chives, spinach and tomato. Sprinkle salt and black pepper into the mixture. Allow to cook on high heat until the water burns out.
In a separate bowl, mix the eggs, coriander powder, green chillies, milk, salt and black pepper.
When there is no water left in the pan, add a little more butter. Lower the heat. Ensure all the ingredients are well mixed and shake the pan to level everything out. Slowly pour the egg mixture over the ingredients in the pan. Tilt the pan so that everything is coated. DO NOT MIX. Cover the pan with the lid and allow the egg to cook through. Add cheese and allow to melt. Garnish with coriander and chives.
Enjoy!
I shared this recipe with Styled Xplora so you may have come across this recipe before!
Sugar sweet
I need to eat!
Do you have an insatiable hunger for anything sweet? I know I do. After every meal, I crave something delicious, sweet and preferably unhealthy.
It is as if my body goes into a crave mode and I'll hunt around the house for anything that will satisfy those cravings.
These are my top 5 favourite delicacies that I'm attracted to on a daily basis (I know, it's unhealthy - judge me all you want but I can't help it!). Since these deliciously amazing treats are hard to hate, every sweet tooth out there needs to indulge in this once in a while (or everyday but that's irrelevant!)
Ferrero Rocher
I don't think I've ever stopped loving Ferrero Rocher. It's been a constant in my life. Those beautiful gold wrapped pieces of delicious delicacies have always been a favourite of mine.
Ice cream macarons
Ice cream filled macarons have been an in-thing for ages now. They're heavenly and completely addictive! It can be so hard to control myself from gobbling up the whole carton in one sitting! I love ice cream macarons (especially Sugarlicious) - I honestly think they're the most delicious macarons I have ever indulged in!
Haagen Dazs ice cream
I don't eat a lot of ice cream (although this post may suggest otherwise) because I don't always have the patience to wait for the ice cream to defrost slightly. However, I absolutely love Haagen Dazs' ice cream. From salted caramel to pralines and cream to Belgium chocolate - I love them all. Besides, it's a perfect after dinner dessert!
Hazelnut brownies
My sister makes the best brownies! But unfortunately, I cannot share the recipe because I don't have it. It's her specialty and I'm more than happy not having the recipe because she makes it then (don't stop making it dear sister!) I've always loved hazelnut brownies but homemade hazelnut brownies are one of my favourite treats!
Cadbury Oreo Chocolate
Separately they're just nice. But together, they create an explosion of yummy chocolatey goodness! There's just something about Cadbury Oreo Chocolate that is SO satisfying. My inner voices fight when it comes to eating the whole slab in one sitting. Needless to say, the voice that loves this chocolate so much, wins, and I end up eating the whole thing in one go!
